Description

Steaming food is a traditional and very simple process. This steamer is designed to sit over a pot containing boiling water. As the water boils, the steam rises into the steamer through the open slats in the bottom and is contained in the steamer by the lid. The steamer absorbs any condensation, keeping water from dripping back onto the food. When heated it forms a hot container and can keep food warm for up to half an hour with the cover in place. When steaming dry foods such as breads and dim sum, line the bottom of the steamer tier with paper liner or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking. For foods such as seafood, meats and tofu, steam them in a heat-proof shallow dish to catch the flavorful and nutritious soup. Line steamers with paper liners or cabbage leaves for easier clean-up. Pack steamers with food you like such as dim-sum, dumplings, buns, vegetables, seefoods, meat, rice and etc. Stack the steamer with lid. Bring water to a simmer in a pan or wok. Put the steamer into the pan or wok after the water boiled. Steam between 10-20 minutes depending on the type of food. And enjoy your meals. Cleaning and Maintenance Natural bamboo has its original smell. VINEGAR is a natural safe way to disinfect and deodorize it. Use half cup of vinegar in one gallon of hot water to soak a cloth in, and lightly squeeze out the water from the cloth. Wipe over the bamboo steamer with the cloth and repeat this method several times until cleaned up. Rinse the cloth in hot clean water and wipe the bamboo steamer over once more. HAND WASH with soap and warm water for an extended life. It is not dishwasher safe. The food residue must be cleaned up during cleaning, otherwise it will easily lead to mold. Leave the steamer to AIR DRY completely after washing. Store the steamer in a cool, dry place. Excessive drying can also lead to cracking. Not used often or for a long time, boil the steamer with boiling water for a while and then let it air dried. Do NOT let the steamer soaked in water for long. Do NOT seal bamboo steamer in plastic to prevent condensation. Do NOT store other cookware on top of the steamer to prevent it from cracking. NEVER use abrasive chemicals, solvents or detergents which may damage the bamboo surface.
