CRS Cross Hard Guards Directions FITTING HARD GUARDs (supplies needed: saw, knife or branch pruners – adult supervision required) Each Hard Guard will have a tall guard half and a short guard half Place the tall guard half on the toe pick of the skate blade. Line up the short guard half with the heel of the skate blade next tothe taller guard half so the straight ends overlap. Measure the overlap. ONE HALF of the overlap measurement will be cut from each guard half. Measure and mark theONE HALF measurement on each guard half. A responsible adult should cut one guard half with small saw, knife or branch trimmers. Re-measure the guard halves on the skate blade before cutting the second guard half. Cut the other guard half. (NOTE: There can be a small gap between the two pieces when assembled.) INSTALLING SPRINGS (supplies needed: Phillips head screwdriver) Align the cut ends of the two guard halves. Place one spring into channel of the guard to determine best placement of screw holes. Appropriate hole placement may have slight tension on spring if there is no gap between guard halves. Insert a screw with attached spring into the screw hole of one guard half Turn screw with screw driver until the screw sticks out the other side of guard Turn over the guard half and attach the second spring onto the inserted screw Hold both springs in place, and turn screw to secure the second spring Align the cut ends of the two guard halves (ensure you have one short end and one tall end) Insert second screw into designated hole. Turn screw with screwdriver until the screw sticks out the other side of guard Fit the first spring over screw. Hold both springs in place, turn each of the screws to securely attach each spring.
