John Boos Mystery Oil is for care of tops & blocks that are used as a working, cutting surface. This fine oil is a mixture of white mineral oil & beeswax, & will give your John Boos product. The same quality finish as the factory. We recommend oiling your tops or blocks every 4-6 weeks. This food-safe oil finish keeps your blocks looking new. This all natural formula penetrates deeply into the grains of the wood, leaves a silky wax barrier & locks moisture in. Used regularly, boos block board cream will replenish the moisture lost from repeated washings, keeping your butcher blocks, cutting boards, & utensils from drying, bleaching & cracking. Boos Block Cream is a special combination of natural unbleached beeswax & food grade mineral oil. Care and Maintenance is essential to preserving and prolonging the life of John Boos Cutting Boards and Butcher Blocks, or any unsealed wooden item in your kitchen (bowls, utensils and more). This set has all you need for easy and simple care, with one 16 ounce bottle of Mystery Oil and one 5 ounce Tube of Board Cream. Oil or creme? Use both! John Boos highly recommends using the Boos Block Mystery Oil first and then using the Board Cream to fully replenish, restore, and protect your wood surfaces.Instructions: 1.A minimum of once a month (depending upon the use and household conditions), apply an even coat of Boos Mystery oil to all surfaces of your wood cutting board using your fingers2. Allow the Mystery oil to fully penetrate through the wood fibers overnight, then wipe off any excess oil. 3. Apply additional oil to any visible dry spots or for any other necessary reasons and repeat. Do not over oil your cutting board. 4. For additional protection, it is recommended to use Boos Block Board Cream (sold separately on Amazon) to seal the top of the wood surface.
