Description

ZincShield is installed at the top of the roof below the ridge cap, ridge vent or below the first row of shingles. If the roof has multiple ridges, install at the top of each ridge. It should normally be installed on both sides of each roof ridge. ZincShield should be also be installed below any obstruction that interferes with or blocks the normal flow of rainwater down the roof. This includes chimneys, dormers, skylights, etc. New Roofs - New roof applications are great since no stain causing organisms have had a chance to get a foothold on the roof – start right away protecting your investment with ZincShield and keep it that way. Old Roofs - The same is true for old roofs with no existing stains - install ZincShield as soon as possible before stains start showing up. If you have had your roof power washed, install ZincShield right away because you don't want to have the roof cleaned again due to the damage such cleaning causes (as well as the high cost of cleaning). Some roof protection products being sold are made of galvanized steel. Galvanized steel is steel that is only coated in a thin layer of zinc and it will provide protection against roof stains. However, as this coating of zinc dissipates, the steel is exposed to air allowing rust to form. Since ZincShield is solid zinc, it can never rust and it will keep on protecting your roof for 20-years or more.
