Or you need to add a check value between air pump and air stone to prevent back siphoning. 4. Plug the pump in and adjust the Dial. Remember to create a "drip loop"for the power cord. It is whisper quiet on low, and has a noticeable hum in a silent room when running on highest. Placing a blanket or soundproofing material under it will make it quieter. It has a Smooth rotating dial to control the dual ports output. A higher setting generates more air and bubbles, but will certainly increase the noise level a little bit.
