See more product details The Evac+Chair 700H IBEX Tran-Seat requires two people to evacuate an individual up or down stairs and on level ground, is made from stainless steel, and weighs 32 lb. Treads work with an adjustable pressure brake to allow the chair to be eased down stairs creating friction to slow momentum. This places 90% of the weight on the stair edge, relieving the operators from bearing the entire weight of the individual. The pressure brake uses an adjustable knob that can be tightened or loosened according to the weight of the individual and the appropriate speed at which the operators are comfortable descending the stairs. There is a telescopic extension handle in back for the rear operator and set of handles extending from the bottom front of the chair for the second operator. Two rear wheels are stationary and two smaller front wheels swivel for steering the chair on level ground. One 2-1/2 inch safety belt tightens across the waist and chest, and another goes around the ankles to secure the individual in the chair. The chair has a maximum capacity of 350 lb. and is constructed from stainless steel for strength and corrosion resistance. The seat and backrest covers are detachable for easy cleaning. The chair measures 43 x 18 x 14 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) A dust cover and J-bracket wall mount are included for storage. Photoluminescent indicator sign can be affixed to the wall near the mounted chair and reads: "Emergency Stairway Descent for the Mobility Impaired." When used according to manufacturer’s recommendations, this product is covered by a 15-year warranty against defects in workmanship or materials; components prone to wear, such as treads, are covered under a one-year warranty.
