Creativity makes people a little happier. And more relaxed. With its products, STAEDTLER is not only a companion for people of all ages who want to bring their own creative ideas to life, but also a life-long source of inspiration. With a broad spectrum of high-quality, innovative, German-made creative products, STAEDTLER fosters the development of individual personalities – and has done for more than 180 years. Our focus for sustainable development is wood, the renewable raw material that is at the heart of wood-cased pencils and that it is therefore essential for us to protect. Having our own plantation means STAEDTLER can go one step further and take control of the entire production process for the wooden slats needed for pencil manufacture, from the selection of the tree species in line with environmental and economic criteria, to cultivation methods that meet strict ecological standards, to consideration of local flora and fauna, right through to the processing of the wood itself. STAEDTLER found the right conditions for its plantation in Ecuador in South America. Over an area of about 1,800 hectares there, the trees will grow that will become the STAEDTLER pencils of the future. The STAEDTLER corporate philosophy attaches great importance to the protection of the environment, consumers and company employees. Each and every employee plays a part in fulfilling our responsibility towards the environment. Long before the emergence of the many eco-standards and environmental seals, STAEDTLER was already demonstrating corporate responsibility through efficient processes and a self-imposed eco-system. The formula is secret – the pencil is world-famous! It was with pencils that STAEDTLER’s success story began. To this very day, first-class materials and manufacturing processes guarantee outstanding and unbeatable product quality. STAEDTLER Mars Lumograph is available in up to 20 degrees – for writing, drawing and sketching on paper and matt drafting film. The super-bonded lead wears evenly and is easy to erase and sharpen. Not only is it an ideal creative companion for drawing and sketching purposes - but also an art-form in its own right. Ever since 1835, STAEDTLER pencils have served both as tools and a source of inspiration for artists, graphic designers and illustrators.
