Our founder, Hoyt Buck, was looking for a better way to temper steel so it would hold an edge longer. His unique approach produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. In 1964, Buck became an industry leader with the revolutionary Model 110 Folding Hunter. This drive for ingenuity & excellence is what has made Buck the successful knife maker it is today. Then we heat-treat or temper each blade with our patented process to meet the demands of the intended use of the knife. So, the knife you buy is sharper out-of-the-box, holds an edge longer, and is easier to re-sharpen. Buck provides a Spa Service - for only Buck branded knives - which restores the factory edge on your knife and gives it a basic polish for a fee of $6.95/knife.
