On top of the potty, there's a layer of softer synthetic grass. You can easily replace this grass mat or use an cleaning spray to keep it clean. Below the grass is a stable drainage grate. Numerous ridges are molded into the base. They're meant to guide urine down into a small drainage hole. Waste flows down to a collection tray.
