The Kidde P12040 Hardwire inter connectable Photoelectric Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup can act as a stand-alone unit or can be integrated into an existing electrical system. This unit sounds an early warning to alert you and your family of the presence of visible fire particles detected by the alarm's photoelectric sensor. Powered by 120-Volt AC, this alarm protects you, your home and the people you hold dear even during power outages, thanks to a 9-Volt battery backup. A power harness facilitates an easy installation and a simple push of a button activates this alarm's test and hush features. The Kidde Smoke Detector, Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup & Interconnect, model P12040, is an AC/DC powered, photoelectric smoke alarm that operates on a 120V power source with a 9-volt alkaline battery backup, in the event of a power failure. Using photoelectric sensing technology, the wired smoke alarm detects visible fire particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms. Red LEDs provide 4 modes of operation: Standby Mode - flashes every 40 seconds to indicate the smoke alarm is operating properly, Alarm Mode - alarm senses products of combustion, Alarm Memory - to indicate the alarm has been activated, & Hush Mode - silences the alarm for approximately 7 minutes. Green LED indicates AC power. A maximum of 24 Kidde devices can be interconnected in a multiple station arrangement, but cannot exceed the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) limit of 18 initiation devices, of which 12 can be smoke alarms. With 18 initiating devices (smoke, heat, CO, etc.), interconnected, it is still possible to interconnect 6 strobe lights and or relay modules. UL Certified with a 10-year limited warranty.
