Check if the metal prongs in the battery case are touching both ends of the battery and carefully angle them outward if needed. If the hands are crossing or touching, adjust them by slightly bending them from the front or rotating them with the dial on the back. Make sure that the center pin that holds the hands together is firmly pushed in or screwed on, depending on the style.
