Wind chimes are very personal, but most of the time, they play a public role in their new homes. Everyone buys their wind chime for personal reasons and often, they are a gift given with a lovely message. The thing is, not every chime is created equal, and some are easier to listen to than others. When you are on the other side of the fence, that personal message is carried by the wind and can either bring people together or push them apart. We want to make sure our chimes are ones that bring people together. We want our customers to be confident that the sounds drifting in the breeze will be one their neighbors can appreciate. The secret is in the five core notes, which together are called a pentatonic scale. The pentatonic scale is universal: all cultures have used it in one way or another. Choosing that specific pattern of notes creates harmonies that have the best chance of sounding great no matter how randomly they play out, which is essential in a wind chime. we spend a lot of time speaking in frequencies and tones. We play with tube diameter, thickness, and length to create the right sound. Then we play with the look of the chime and have fun with the colors and shapes.
