To activate the lights all you have to do is play with it and the lights will turn on. A simple bounce on the ground does the trick. Once you are done playing with it - the lights will shut off after about 40 seconds of non-use. The batteries are replaceable, and last for a long time. Instructions are provided with steps on changing the batteries so you can continue to use this excellent product.
