To feed the birds, we recommend using our brown Plexiglas drinking tube that's UV-protected. It ensures that the food stays fresh longer (12 - 18 hours) and provides a sloping bottom so that the bird can eat the last bit of food. A 40 ml serving is sufficient for even larger species to receive a full day's worth of nutrition. It's important NEVER to use open food bowls, as they can cause the birds to soil their feathers. Nekton Nektar-Plus is a food mixture that was originally developed for hummingbirds, but it's also great for other nectar-eating birds, such as sunbirds, honeycreepers, bananaquits, flower piercers and butterflies. It provides the same energy as flower nectar, their preferred food source, and is packed with essential vitamins, protein, fats, trace elements, and minerals to keep them vital and active in the long term.
