Strands can be plugged in together, male to female end-to-end, but do not exceed more than 1200 watts strung together. You can exchange bulbs for variety but the bulbs must have equal or lower wattage levels, they cannot be a higher level. The strands have two prong plugs and only work with 110v outlets.
