The Ferrara Candy Company traces its roots to 1908, when expert confectioner Salvatore Ferrara opened a bakery in the heart of Chicago's 'Little Italy' neighborhood. Over the next century, the company would introduce America to some of its most beloved candy brands. Flash forward more than 100 years, and Ferrara is America's number-one maker of non-chocolate confections, and continues to deliver goodness in every bite. Many of Ferrara's candies have become household names, and have brought smiles to generations of candy lovers. The company's now-iconic confections include Atomic Fireballs, mouth-puckering Lemonheads, Red Hots, and other classics. So whether you're reliving your childhood memories or simply in the mood for a sweet treat, Ferrara has a confection to suit your fancy. To this day, Ferrara's confections are made in small batches, using a technique known as 'panning'. As much an art as a science, panning confections is a delicate craft that calls for meticulous planning, careful sequencing, and controlled drying. Ferrara has mastered this art over the decades and continues to share the delicious results with candy lovers everywhere. In 1921, Fred Amend first brought Chuckles to kids’ faces. These irresistible jelly candies are coated with a light layer of sugar and come in cherry, lemon, lime, orange and licorice. No wonder they’re so successful. So much has changed since the first Ferrara candy rolled off the line and into stores in 1908. But the same creativity and innovation that fed those early years remains at the heart of our company. In fact, it’s what has made us the number one non-chocolate candy manufacturer in the U.S. We’ve got a sweet history — but an even richer opportunity for future growth and success is right at our doorstep. Our mission is to take the brands that have been loved for generations to the next level. In 2012, we brought together brands like Trolli, Brach’s, Black Forest, Now & Later, Chuckles, and Lemonhead. We’re continuously innovating to bring the best-tasting, highest-quality confections to the marketplace.
