This section is placed directly in contact with the fresh water source and provides the first line of defense to remove large particles. The 0.05 Micron Ultra Filter acts like a barrier to help remove pollen, algae, large particles, giardia, e.coli, protozoa, cysts, cryptosporidium, toxins and heavy metals. Independent tests have shown that the ultra filter can also filter out 99.999% of virus, bacteria and staph. The Ultra Filter can be easily cleaned after every trip and reused up to 100,000 liters (26, 417 gallons). Made from food-grade coconut shells, the carbon filter mouthpiece is designed to reduce heavy metals and chemicals that made it through stages 1 and 2 as well as improve water taste. The carbon filter can be reused up to 1,000 liters (264 gallons).
