The original sport sandal emerged from the shores of the Grand Canyon back in 1984. Born out of necessity to prevent sandals from floating downstream, a resourceful river guide strapped two Velcro watchbands to a pair of old flip-flops. In the years following, Teva has retained the same pioneering spirit and continues to celebrate the freedom to explore. From a Grand Canyon raft in 1984 to docks, stoops, and sidewalks around the world, one of Teva’s very first sandal stands as a testament to timeless comfort and utilitarian style. Finished with Unifi recycled polyester straps that stand up to abuse while keeping plastic waste out of landfills. Starting in 2020, 100% of our iconic straps are now made using traceable, verifiable recycled plastic. That’s over 9 million plastic bottles kept out of landfills and put to better use strapping sandals to your feet. In addition to our recycled straps, we’re seeking sustainable alternatives for key materials and using less water and waste in our packaging—and this is just the beginning. We want those who come after us to have the freedom to explore the outdoors tomorrow, so we’re reducing our footprint today. We’re still selling through older inventory for a short period of time, so thanks for your support as we work to make our footwear as sustainable as possible.
