The process starts with a sculptor hand carving the original design into a block of steel called a die. The die is then placed in a high tonnage press to transfer the detail from the original carving in the die on to a piece of softer precious metal. This process allows for maximum detail to transfer from the original work of art created by the sculptor in to the finished piece of jewelry.
