A natural pond has a constant supply of fresh water flowing into it, such as from a stream or spring. Water also flows out of a natural pond, taking fish waste and other toxins with it. This isn’t true for most garden ponds as they are closed systems. Garden ponds also tend to be much smaller than natural ponds, so they do not offer the amount of water per fish that you find in nature. For these reasons, water treatments are necessary to keep water conditions safe for both fish and plant life and for clearer water. Following specific steps each season allows you to create a backyard retreat you’ll enjoy all year long! For more information about what’s needed each season, check out more below. PondCare Accu-Clear Maintains crystal-clear pond water. Quickly clears cloudy pond water. Helps filters function more efficiently. Works by causing tiny suspended cloud particles in pond water to clump together. The clusters quickly fall to the bottom. Use Pond Zyme Plus or EcoFix along with Accu-Clear for incomparable pond cleanliness. The Active Ingredient Is A Trade Secret & Being Withheld. Before using ACCU-CLEAR, make certain that pond has vigorous aeration, i.e. a fountain, waterfall, or aeration device. During hot summer months, pond water contains very little oxygen, resulting in harmful conditions for fish. Therefore, when using ACCU-CLEAR during warm summer months, adequate aeration is required to avoid fish death. Do not shut off pond pumps and aeration devices at night! Aeration must be provided for pond life at all times. If adequate aeration is provided, oxygen levels will not drop to harmful levels. Add ¼ cup (60 ml) per 600 U.S. gallons (2,271 L) of pond water. DO NOT OVERDOSE. Overdosing will result in less effective results. If a second dose is necessary, wait 24 hours. To maintain water clarity, dose weekly. For best results, add the desired dose to a gallon of pond water and distribute evenly around perimeter of the pond. Rinse filter pads frequently when clearing pond water. Use with POND-ZYME SLUDGE DESTROYER, a two-step approach for incomparable water clarity. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
